On the outer wall of the apse of San Giacometto, overlooking the narrow calle of Naranzaria, there are two Latin inscriptions that have been in dialogue for centuries: one enclosed in a marble cross, the other spread over a band of stone. The first looks to the soul: ’Sit crux tua vera salus huic Christe loco’, may your cross, O Christ, be the true salvation of this place.
