How to use Calletta

This is a courtesy translation: if there are any differences, the Italian text prevails.

Who we are and what these rules are for

Calletta is an audio guide to Venice created and run by Alessio Brusegan ("we"). By using the app or the calletta.it website you accept these rules. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.

For questions or reports write to supporto@calletta.it.

What you get

Part of Venice is free. With "Complete Venice" (a one-time purchase, no subscription) you get access to all places, audio tracks and itineraries.

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to use Calletta’s content for your private, non-commercial use, on up to 3 devices per purchase.

The purchase, payment, invoice and any refunds go through Google Play (or the App Store) and follow their rules. If Google or Apple refunds a purchase, access to Complete Venice is switched off.

Complete Venice can also be activated with a code received from a hotel or other accommodation, or from us. The code is valid only for the purpose it was given for (for example the guests of that accommodation), may have an expiry date and a maximum number of activations, and may not be sold or published. A code that is spread around or misused may be deactivated. Access obtained with a code is linked to the anonymous profile on your phone: if you delete all your data from the app, it is lost.

Paid entries come from our server, so you need an internet connection; part of them stays on your phone as an offline guide. The diary, photos and walks remain free for everyone.

The purchase is valid for the whole life of the service. We may correct, update, add or remove individual entries, audio tracks, images and itineraries (for example because of errors, closures or third-party rights) without substantially reducing what you bought. If Calletta should ever close, we will announce it in the app at least 30 days in advance.

Who owns the content

The texts of the entries, the audio tracks (made with speech synthesis), the redrawn floor plans, the catalogue of places, and the selection, organisation and structure of the app are the work of Alessio Brusegan and are protected by copyright. © 2026 Alessio Brusegan. All rights reserved.

The entries rework Giulio Lorenzetti’s historical guide "Venezia e il suo estuario", which is in the public domain. The original guide remains free for everyone; our rewriting, additions, audio tracks, redrawn floor plans and the way the material is chosen and arranged are not.

Photographs and other third-party images belong to their authors, under the licence shown next to each one. Map data belongs to its authors, as stated in the app.

What you may not do

Without our written permission you may not:

copy, download systematically or automatically (with scripts, bots, crawlers or similar programs), extract or reuse, in whole or in substantial part, the texts, audio, images, catalogue or database of Calletta;

publish, resell, rent, share or redistribute the content, even in summarised or translated form, or use your purchase to give access to people beyond the 3 permitted devices;

use the content to train, feed or improve artificial intelligence, machine learning or speech recognition systems, or to create a competing service;

circumvent or disable the usage limits, purchase checks, protection measures or identifying marks placed in the content, modify the app, or use non-original copies of it or emulated environments to extract the content.

Uses that the law allows without permission remain permitted, such as quoting short passages with the source.

Database

The Calletta catalogue (entries, coordinates, itineraries, audio and the way they are gathered and linked) is a database built with a substantial investment of time and work, protected by copyright and by the database maker’s right (articles 102-bis and 102-ter of Italian law 633/1941, Directive 96/9/EC). The extraction and reuse of substantial parts are prohibited, as is the repeated and systematic extraction or reuse of insubstantial parts.

Checks and protections

To protect our work, the server delivers paid content only to those who have bought it, and a little at a time. There is a daily limit of entries per purchase, a limit on devices and checks on unusual requests. Normal use by a visitor never reaches them.

We may place marks in the content that make it possible to trace where a copy came from, and keep requests that look like abuse in our technical logs for as long as needed to defend ourselves.

Suspension and consequences

If you break these rules we may suspend or revoke your access, without a refund, except for the rights the law gives you as a consumer. If you believe a suspension is a mistake, write to supporto@calletta.it and we will review it.

We reserve the right to take action before the competent authorities to stop unauthorised copying or reuse and to claim damages.

Warranties and liability

Calletta is an information guide: opening hours, ticket prices, routes and directions can change or contain errors. Check practical information before you set off. Walk carefully and respect the signs and the rules of the places you visit.

In Venice the phone’s GPS and compass can be off by many metres. Route directions and "Listen as you walk" are an aid, not a reliable guide: do not look at your phone while crossing bridges, quaysides and canal banks without railings, and stop if you need to read.

To the extent permitted by law we are not liable for indirect damage arising from the use of the app. Nothing written here excludes or limits rights that the law does not allow to be limited, in particular consumer rights.

Changes, applicable law and jurisdiction

We may update these rules, for example when the services or the law change. The date of the last update is at the bottom of the page; if a change is important we will point it out in the app.

These rules are governed by Italian law. If you are a consumer, any dispute remains with the court of the place where you reside or are domiciled, as provided by the Italian Consumer Code.

How we handle your data is explained in the privacy notice.
