The smallest and oldest church in the commercial heart of Venice: the Venetians call it San Giacometo. Tradition has it consecrated on 25 March 421, the very day of the city’s founding, and tells that four bishops attended together; the documents are more sober - firm citations from the 12th century - but on the facade a plaque records the solemn consecration of 1177.
