In the maze of little streets behind Campo dei Gesuiti, the name comes neither from a family nor from a trade: the ’volti’ are the arches that join the houses on the two sides of the calle, mutually supporting them - a place-name that Venice repeated several times, and that survives here in the plural because the arches were many.
