At number 4581 of the Salizada Seriman (a salizada is one of Venice’s paved main streets), between the Santi Apostoli and the Gesuiti, rises one of the best-preserved Gothic palaces in Cannaregio: a pointed-arch construction of the 15th century of the Dolce and then the Contarini — whose coat of arms remains fixed on the wall of the Calle Venier — which passed in the 18th century to the Seriman, an Armenian family fled from Isfahan that bought its way into the patriciate by lending the Republic seven hundred and twenty thousand ducats for the war of Candia.
