At the far end of Campo della Maddalena (a Venetian square), one of Cannaregio’s most distinctive, stands a pointed-arch portal — all that can be seen from here of Palazzo Magno, a 15th-century home of one of the oldest families in the Venetian patriciate. The Magno claimed to have come from Oderzo as early as 598 — or 905 — and produced tribunes, a bishop of Equilio in 1306, and the chronicler Stefano Magno.
