On one of the first columns of the portico, someone carved a message by hand, letter by letter, hoping it would last for ever: «Eterna memoria dell’anno 1864 del giaccio veduto in Venezia, che se sta su le Fundamente Nove a San Cristoforo andava la gente in procision che formava un liston».
