This broad, straight street seems out of place in Dorsoduro’s maze of narrow lanes. It is a river in disguise: the Rio Terrà della Carità, a canal filled in from Campo della Carità towards the rio di San Trovaso, once marking the eastern boundary of the old island of Santa Maria della Carità.
