Beside Caffè Quadri opens a dark, narrow sotoportego (a covered passageway), some thirty metres in which the crowd of St Mark’s Square suddenly thins out: at the end, the first little bridge over the rio de le Procuratie is the Ponte dei Dai. A small stone bridge whose name has sparked centuries of disputes.
