Where the rio dei Santi Apostoli (a rio is a Venetian canal) flows into the Grand Canal, Palazzo Smith Mangilli Valmarana is a unique case in Venice: the only palazzo on the canal with a facade of pure neoclassical stamp, designed by the painter and engraver Antonio Visentini between 1743 and 1751.
