Walk along Rio Terà de l’Isola and look at the plan it draws: a wide street that bends like a horseshoe and closes back on itself, with a campiello (small square) in the middle. It looks like an ordinary Santa Croce street, but the name betrays the secret — ’terà’ stands for interrato (filled in).
