A pocket-sized campiello on the westernmost edge of old Venice, in the district of San Nicolo dei Mendicoli: on one side the Fondamenta d’Arzere, on the other the Calle dell’Olio, and then the rio. The name is a miniature urban-planning document: ’Terren’ means terrain, and empty terrain was here - with a few tumbledown cottages - when the Panizza bought it in the 17th century.
