On the Grand Canal in Cannaregio, beside the Palazzetto Barbarigo with its famous terrace, stands Palazzo Zulian Priuli, a 17th-century building whose double name comes from two families and a will. It belonged to Girolamo Zulian (1730–1795), a Venetian nobleman, member of the council overseeing the mainland, senator and ambassador of the Serenissima to the Holy See from 1777 to 1783, then resident envoy in Constantinople until 1789.
