Between the salizada Zorzi (a salizada is one of the first paved streets of Venice) and the rio di San Severo (a small Venetian canal), in the sestiere (district) of Castello, the white Istrian stone cladding of Palazzo Zorzi stands out — also called Zorzi Galeoni: a great Renaissance palazzo erected in the early years of the 16th century to a design attributed to Mauro Codussi, the architect of the nearby church of Santa Maria Formosa.
