In the silent heart of Castello, this waterfront runs along the rio di San Severo (a Venetian canal) between two eras of the city: on one side the façades of some of the finest Venetian palazzi, on the other the memory of a vanished church that, after ten centuries of life, ended up demolished to make room for a prison.
