On the left bank of the Grand Canal, beside Campo di San Simeone Profeta (a Venetian square), Palazzo Gritti is a restrained late-Renaissance building, erected towards the end of the 16th century. Its façade faces the canal opposite Riva de Biasio, right next to Campo San Simeon Grando. The palace was one of the homes of the Gritti, a ‘new’ family in the Venetian patriciate, though documented from as early as the 13th century.
