Behind the bulk of the Tolentini basilica opens a convent that is a small masterpiece of 16th-century conventual architecture: Vincenzo Scamozzi designed it for the Theatine fathers, and the Theatines themselves completed it in 1602. Porticoed cloister, cells, corner refectory: everything according to the golden rule of the perfect convent — and even a rare ’aerial walkway’ on the second floor.
