The church that closes off the campo (square) of San Barnaba is older than its neoclassical façade suggests: it was founded in 809 by the Adami (or Adorni) family, destroyed in the great fire of 1105, rebuilt with the alms of the faithful and consecrated in 1350 by two bishops, Francesco Mociense, a Franciscan, and Agnellino Sudense, a Dominican.
