A broad commercial street of the sestiere of San Marco, between campo San Salvador and the riva del Ferro, a stone’s throw from the Rialto Bridge and its landing stages. It is one of Venice’s ’new’ streets: it was born by widening a narrow pre-existing calle, the old calle della Scimia, at the end of the 19th century, to ease the flow towards the Rialto stop, a key node of transport in the city.
