The street looks calm, but the church wall confesses: a canal ran beneath here. At the base of the flank overlooking the Rio Terà dei Gesuati, towards the Zattere, opens a great stone arch mouth, walled up and half-swallowed by the paving. It is not a doorway: it is the mouth of the volto, the vault under which the rio dei Gesuati passed inside the church.
