On Rio Terrà Antonio Foscarini — a filled-in canal turned tree-lined avenue, once the ’rio terrà degli Alberetti’ — the church of Sant’Agnese is one of the oldest in Venice: perhaps founded between the 9th and 10th centuries by a Mellini family — or, according to others, by the Molin — it is documented from 1081, renewed after the fire of 1105 and consecrated in 1321 — and Stringa, in the early 17th century, admired its eleven decorated altars, before the benefactor Lodovico Bruzzoni beautified it further and a parish priest remade the atrium.
