In the middle of this silent campiello stands one of the oldest wellheads in Venice: a cylinder of stone carved with interlaced motifs, which Tassini called ’Moorish in style’. Tradition dates it as far back as the 10th century — that would make it a thousand-year-old well — while the great scientific catalogue of Venetian wellheads, Alberto Rizzi’s, places it more prudently in the first half of the 12th.
