On Salizzada di San Samuele, one of Venice’s early paved streets, at no. 3338, a small palazzo with a commemorative inscription marks the Venetian home of Paolo Veronese. Paolo Caliari arrived from Verona in 1553 to paint the halls of the Council of Ten with Ponchino and Zelotti. He lived and worked here in the second half of the 16th century, until his death in 1588, painting his great feasts in dazzling colours.
