On the Grand Canal, between Palazzo Loredan Cini and Palazzo Contarini Polignac, this palace goes by different names in different guidebooks: Molin Balbi-Valier, Balbi-Valier Sammartini or, as Venetians called it, ‘della Trezza’, after the braided band on the family coat of arms. Each surname marks a layer of its history.
