Between Campo San Vio, a campo (square), and the Campo della Carità runs one of the quietest lanes in Dorsoduro: the Piscina del Forner. The name tells two stories in one: the ’piscina’ was the open basin of water at the mouth of a rio (a Venetian canal) now filled in, as the Rio Terà (a filled-in canal turned street) that follows it bears witness, and the ’forner’ was the baker’s oven that worked for the neighbourhood.
