Between Palazzo Balbi Valier and Palazzo Contarini Polignac, level with Sant’Agnese, the Grand Canal opens onto a precious break in the palazzi: a private garden that slopes down to the water and ends in a semicircular balustrade. The Paradiso family’s palazzo once stood here. The family line ended with its last heir, Girolamo, who was killed in 1531 by Vincenzo Grimani, son of Doge Antonio.
