On Riva di Biasio, where the Cannaregio Canal opens into the Grand Canal, Palazzo Marcello Toderini is a small 17th-century palace with an unusual design: a single piano nobile, with a central serliana flanked by round-arched single windows set within a trabeated frame. It belonged to the Marcello, a patrician family that claimed descent from an ancient Roman clan.
