The bank opposite the Arsenal, across the rio (a Venetian canal), is aptly named: in Venetian, it is called the fondamenta de fazza l’Arsenal (the canalside walkway facing the Arsenal). The view is the best in Venice of its crenellated walls, the towers of the water entrance and the barrier of the Serenissima’s great shipyard.
