In a leafy campiello facing the rio, among the silent canals behind the Riva di Biasio, the church of San Simeone Grande is one of the oldest in the sestiere: founded, the chronicles say, in 967 at the common expense of the Ghisi, Adoldi and Briosi families, it was rebuilt in stone after the fire of 1150.
