At number 2179, opposite the 13th-century houses of the Zane, Casa Barbaro displays its 14th-century pointed-arch façade: pointed-arch windows in the Venetian Gothic style were an elegant hallmark of patrician homes before the Renaissance. Behind the door, an inner courtyard opens onto an uncovered staircase, following the oldest design of the Venetian house, with fragments of sculpture gathered along the walls.
