Among the masterpieces the Scuola Grande di San Rocco guards inside, the most mysterious is outside, under everyone’s feet: on the stone bench to the left of the portal someone has incised three concentric squares joined at the midpoints of their sides. It is a ’triplice cinta’, and nobody knows who carved it or when.
