The salizzada runs straight towards the Grand Canal and closes into the perfect stage set of the facade of San Stae, the Baroque church that Domenico Rossi dressed in statues and marbles like a theatre on the water: it was paid for, by will, by Doge Alvise Mocenigo II, born in 1624 right in the palace of this salizzada. But the street is not only an access avenue: it is an open-air museum of the Venice of bricks.
