A few steps behind the Basilica della Salute, this rio terà (a filled-in canal, now a street) was laid out in 1818 over the rio dei Catecumeni. The old canal ran straight from the rio della Salute towards the rio de la Fornace, with a fondamenta (canalside walkway) on each side, joined at the end by the Ponte dei Catecumini.
