The ogival portal of Castello 1: beneath a single arch, two little doors — the pale recent one and the dark worn one — divided by a mullion Photo: klimakas, Mapillary, CC BY-SA 4.0
Look carefully at the portal: a single pointed arch in Istrian stone, with the lunette closed by a grille. Underneath, though, there is not one door: there are two, so narrow that barely a shoulder passes at a time, side by side like two strangers at the same table. One is pale, recent wood; the other dark and eaten by time.
