The Ponte di Quintavalle is one of Venice’s longest wooden bridges: a 53-metre walkway over the Canale di San Pietro, linking the Via Garibaldi and Fondamenta Sant’Anna area with the island of San Pietro di Castello, the city’s ancient episcopal centre. Rebuilt in 2009 with its wooden forms and materials retained — five spans on oak piers, laminated larch beams and wooden railings — it can now be crossed entirely on gentle ramps, with no steps.
