Facing Ca’ d’Oro, opposite Campo Santa Sofia, Palazzo Sagredo — today Ca’ Sagredo, formerly of the Morosini family and bought by the Sagredo in the early 16th century, the dynasty that also gave the Republic a doge, Nicolò — preserves on the Grand Canal one of the richest surviving Gothic facades: late 14th century, with a broad central fenestration and traces of an even older Veneto-Byzantine building of the 13th century.
