On the Fondamenta (canalside walkway) di San Simeone Piccolo, a step before the Ponte della Croce and opposite the station (not to be confused with the other Palazzo Diedo in Santa Fosca), Palazzo Emo Diedo is for many travellers the first palace Venice shows them: a measured, neoclassical 18th-century façade, with the great three-light window crowned by a triangular pediment peeping out among Corinthian columns of colossal order.
