Palazzo Dandolo is the great Gothic building you recognise today by the Danieli sign, but its story begins as a patrician dwelling. On the Riva it lines up in a sequence of noble palaces — Gritti, Bernardo, Mocenigo — where its 15th-century facade remains the most recognisable. The hotel’s sources confirm the decisive passage: in 1822 Giuseppe Dal Niel, known as Danieli, turned the palace into a hotel.
