One head for two bodies: set into the façade on the rio (canal) de la Misericordia is a patera (carved roundel) of Greek marble about forty-five centimetres wide that is a little frightening when you look at it properly. In the centre a single frontal head, wide-eyed, with an air between mocking and demonic; at the sides, mirror images, two lion bodies facing and joining each other, front paws with front paws, hind with hind.
