In Cannaregio, a few steps from the Strada Nova, this fondamenta (a canalside walkway) runs along the rio di San Felice (a Venetian canal), opposite the old parish church. The Gallina family commissioned the church in the 10th century, and it was consecrated in 1267. When it threatened to collapse, it was rebuilt in the 16th century along the lines of the Lombard-style building, then reconsecrated in 1624 by Patriarch Tiepolo.
