Straddling the Strada Nova, between the campo (square) and the rio (a small canal) of the same name, San Felice is one of the oldest churches in Cannaregio: founded around 960 by the Gallina family — an ancient and wealthy line, extinct for centuries — and dedicated to St Felix, priest of Nola, it was entirely rebuilt from 1531 in Codussi-style Greek-cross forms and reconsecrated in 1624 by the patriarch Tiepolo, with two façades and a portal commissioned by Girolamo Priuli ’dalle Porte’.
