It is one of Venice’s longest fondamenta, running along the north bank of the rio della Misericordia, in the heart of Cannaregio. Here you will find low houses, moored boats and, in the evening, long shadows in the fading light. The name comes from the Scuola Grande di Santa Maria della Misericordia, the vast 16th-century building at its eastern entrance.
