On Via Garibaldi, the ’Napoleonic street’ created by filling in the rio (a Venetian canal) di Castello, stands the church of the Minims: founded as a hospital commissioned in 1291 by Bishop Bartolomeo Querini, it was entrusted in 1588 to the Order of St Francis of Paola and consecrated in 1619 under the double dedication of Saints Bartholomew and Francis.
