As you travel towards Rialto, just before Ca’ d’Oro, a bright, unpretentious house stands between the 13th-century Byzantine Ca’ da Mosto and the ornate Palazzo Bollani Erizzo. Its arched windows and an extra upper floor added in the 17th century mark it out as the Dolfin family home, built around the 15th century for one of the city’s oldest families. The Dolfin were said to be one of the twelve ’apostolic’ families that founded Venice.
