The broad campo (Venetian square) at the start of Strada Nova, the straight 19th-century thoroughfare that cuts through Cannaregio, is one of Venice’s liveliest and least noticed squares. At its centre stands a vera da pozzo (wellhead), while the church of Santi Apostoli dominates the north side.
