From the Ponte San Cristoforo — a stone bridge banded with brick that joins the Campiello Barbaro (small square) to the calle (street), spanning the rio de le Toresele (a small canal) — this Dorsoduro street leads towards the Fondamenta Venier and the Grand Canal. The rio running beside it links the city’s two great canals and in the documents also had a second name: de le Piere Bianche.
