Everyone runs to the church of the Miracoli, the marble jewel-box of the Lombardi - but the miracle began here, in this calle squeezed between the campo and Santa Maria Nova. Really narrow: Sansovino, who saw it in the Seicento (the 17th century), measured it at four feet, not even a metre and a half, and recounts that the devotees flocked in such crowds as to risk suffocation.
