In the small campo (square) gathered between two branches of the rio dei Miracoli opens one of the purest jewels of the Venetian Renaissance: the church of Santa Maria dei Miracoli, clad in polychrome marble like a casket. Tradition tells that from 1408 an image of the Virgin between two saints, painted by Nicolò di Pietro, hung on the outside of the Amadi houses next door; in 1477, deemed miraculous, it began to attract offerings and alms.
