From Ponte de la Comenda towards Campo delle Gatte runs the calle that was once Venice’s Friulian quarter. After Friuli was conquered, many people from the region moved to the Dominante, as Venice was known, and most settled here in Castello, in the parish of Sant’Antonino. The calle and nearby fondamenta took their name from them: Furlani was the Venetians’ version of «Friulani».
