Calle dei Sansoni takes its name from a family that came from Feltre, says Tassini: people of commerce and letters, with many houses in this part of Venice. At a certain point the Sansoni pulled down a wall of their own and made out of it the campiello (a small square) still called dei Sansoni. So as not to lose the right over the area, they had the boundaries marked with some white stones, on which is written “CONFIN DE SANSONI”.
